Stackpad Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This policy covers the Android app Stackpad (the "app") published on Google Play by Skerryapps ("we", "us"). It explains what the app accesses on your phone, what reaches us, and your rights. It describes the current version of the app.
In short
The app works entirely on your phone. It has no account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no servers of ours. The current version does not request internet access, and the app does not transmit your widgets, notes, photos, settings or logs to us. What reaches us is only what you choose to send us yourself (such as an email), and standard aggregate or diagnostic information that Google Play makes available to every developer. Where something is passed to another app on your phone, such as your launcher, that is described below.
Who is responsible
Skerryapps, Malta, is the controller for the limited personal data that actually reaches us, described under "What reaches us". Contact: support@skerryapps.com
For data that stays on your phone, we design the app's features, but we never collect, receive, access or read that data and cannot see, recover, export or delete it remotely. You control it on your phone and can erase all of it at any time in Android's settings or by uninstalling the app.
What the app uses on your phone
This data is processed on your phone, to make the features you use work. It is not used for advertising or profiling, and it is not sold or shared.
- Accessibility service "Stackpad: swipe gestures" (optional, off until you turn it on). It is used only for the app's own features: to recognize swipes on your stacks on the home screen, to keep widgets in a stack up to date, to let buttons of other apps' widgets in a stack open those apps (for this it briefly shows an invisible window, as Android requires), and to lock the screen from the Lock screen card. To do this it looks at the structure of the launcher's windows, such as which of its own views are on screen. It does not read what you type, it does not keep a history of your screen, and it does not send screen content off your phone. You can turn it off at any time in Android's settings.
- Other apps' widgets you add to a stack are shown by the app on your phone, like a launcher shows them. To show them on the home screen, the app keeps recent images of them in its private storage and passes them to your launcher. Their content comes from those apps and can include personal information, such as messages or events. It stays on your phone.
- Photos you pick for a Photo card are copied into the app's private storage. The app gets only the photos you pick.
- Text you write on cards, such as notes, is stored in the app.
- Approximate place for the sky cards is worked out from your phone's time zone setting, not from your location.
- Installed apps. To let you pick widgets, the app can see which installed apps offer a widget or a home-screen icon. That list stays on your phone.
Diagnostics on your phone
The app keeps limited local diagnostic logs on your phone, and an optional debug log if you turn it on in Developer settings, to help find problems. They can include technical details of what the app was doing, such as package names of apps and widgets. You can clear these logs in Developer settings or by clearing the app's storage. They stay on your phone and reach us only if you explicitly save a log and send it to us yourself, for example when asking for help. Please don't send a log if you don't want us to see what is in it. If you save a log to send it, a copy is placed in your phone's Downloads folder, where other apps with file access may be able to read it, so delete that file from Downloads when you no longer need it.
What reaches us
- Your messages. If you write to us, we get your email address, your message and anything you attach, which may be stored by our email provider. We use them only to answer you and fix the problem you report. We don't use them to send you marketing.
- Google Play statistics and crash reports. Google Play gives every developer statistics, such as installs, ratings and reviews, and technical reports about crashes and freezes from people who allowed their phone to share diagnostics with Google. They contain technical details such as the device model and Android version. They are not meant to identify you to us, and we don't use them to identify you. What they contain is decided by Google. We use them to keep the app working and improve it.
- Reviews. The app may ask you to rate it through Google Play's own review window. Your rating and review go to Google Play under its terms.
- Purchases. If the app offers Pro, the purchase is made through Google Play. We receive what Google Play gives developers about an order, such as the order number, product, price and date, not your payment details. We use it to provide Pro, handle refunds and keep the records the law requires.
Google processes data on its own behalf as described in its privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Legal basis (EU and UK)
- Answering your messages: our legitimate interest in supporting the app, and taking steps you asked for.
- Statistics and crash reports: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it.
- Purchases: performing the contract with you, and our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules.
How long we keep it
- Messages: as long as needed to help you and to keep a reasonable record of our support, and no longer than necessary. You can ask us to delete them earlier.
- Statistics and crash reports: for the periods Google Play keeps them.
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Data on your phone: until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, or object to how we use it. Because we do not collect or store your in-app data, widgets, notes, photos, settings or logs on any server, we hold personal data about you only if you have contacted us directly (such as by email); all on-device data is under your sole control and can be deleted by removing cards/widgets in the app, clearing the app's storage, or uninstalling the app. For data we do hold, write to support@skerryapps.com. We will answer within the time the law requires. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you.
If you live in the EU or EEA, you can also complain to your local data protection authority, or to ours, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner of Malta: idpc.org.mt
We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising, and we don't make automated decisions that produce legal effects about you.
Security
The app keeps its data in its private storage on your phone, protected by Android. No method of storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee the security of your data. It also depends on your phone, its lock and its software.
Children
The app is a general tool for the home screen, not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Transfers
We use service providers, such as our email provider, that may process data outside your country, including outside the EU. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers include in their terms, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
Changes
We may update this policy, for example when the app, the law or our services change. The new version will be published at this address with a new date. Where the law requires it, we will also let you know in a reasonable way, for example in the app.
